MOOMINVALLEY is a new TV adaptation of writer-illustrator Tove Jansson’s classic and much-loved stories about the Moomins. Directed to a family primetime audience, the drama fantasy series is full of life and laughter for lifelong Moomin fans, and complete newcomers alike.
The new animation series will be made using state-of-the-art 3D CGI to introduce Moomin to a new generation – and to screens in a way never seen before. Season 1 premieres in spring 2019 on Yle in Finland and Sky in UK. The series was supported by an amazing crowdsourced Indiegogo campaign and you can find all the supporters here.
The innovative animation will be produced by an outstandingly talented team, including creative director and executive producer Marika Makaroff; Oscar®-winning director Steve Box; BAFTA®-winning producer John Woolley and Emmy®-winning writing duo Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler.
As we follow the story of Moomintroll’s growth and encounters with his family and other creatures, we learn more about our own humanity, relationships and emotions – and especially about love. Moominvalley is an uplifting series with many positive messages!
