To mark the closing weekend of the Tove Jansson (1914-2001) exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery, welcome to join for a night exploring Jansson’s life through film, letters and talks!
For the first time, the extracts from Tove Jansson’s personal correspondence with family, friends and lovers will be shared. These letters are currently being translated into English and will be read exclusively ahead of their publication by Sort of Books.
Queer feminist collective Club des Femmes will present two of Jansson’s home movies – ‘Tove and Tooti in Europe’ and ‘Haru: Island of the Solitary’. These beautiful films show Jansson and her partner Tuulikki Pietilä making their lives together abroad and at home and offer an intimate, charming, often-hilarious and off-the-cuff portrait of lives entwined in art and love.
And in a not-to-be-missed talk, learn more about Jansson’s life from her niece Sophia Jansson, who will be in discussion with Nicolette Jones, Children’s Books Editor at The Sunday Times.
After-hours entry to the Tove Jansson (2014-2001) exhibition is included in the ticket.
