Here are 17 different test versions of the Moomin mugs produced in the ’90s. Designs are by Camilla Moberg based on the original artwork of Tove Jansson.
Only one mug per test colour has ever been made and at the bottom of each mug, there is a code to specify the colour. In these pictures, some of the background colours look the same as the ones in production but there are still some differences. It is very important to find exactly the right tone of the colour that works best with the design. Sometimes you have absolutely fantastic background colour but you don’t have the design with it and sometimes you have the design but it is difficult to combine it with the right background.
We know that there are few Moomin mug collectors, super lucky ones, who have also test version mugs in their collection. Their mugs might look quite similar to these ones but are still different.
Soon we will show more test versions of the Moomin mugs by Arabia but let´s start with these old ones first!
