Puuha together with FGI have announced the construction of a new Moomin theme park in Japan. The park will feature the popular animated characters and fairy tales and it is said to be opened in 2015.
The event is almost set to coincide with the 100th birthday of late writer Tove Jansson, who is the creator of the Moomin characters.
There is a popular Moomin theme park in Finland and there is also one Moomin inspired theme park in Saitama, Japan but the coming attraction will be more true to the original Moomin. The location of the new theme park is yet to be determined.
The project will be overseen by Moomin Monogatari, Ltd., a joint venture by FinTech Global Inc. (FGI) and Puuha International Oy.
The stories about Moomin were first published in 1945 in Swedish by the Finnish writer and artist Tove Jansson. The Moomin books and comic strips have since been adapted into several animations, and remain popular worldwide.
