Game on – Finnish startup rounds up 1 million to develop new Moomin games

The Finnish-based startup game company Snowfall has gathered 1 million euros from investors to develop a variety of Moomin mobile family games intended for a global audience.

The game scene in Finland has in the past ten years grown considerably and this financing round is the biggest in the city of Turku. Not only are there well-known investors such as Göran Sundholm, Kaj Paasikivi, and Pasi Kivimäki connected to the endeavour but Snowfall has also partnered with the Singapore-based company Frontier to head the expansion of the operations in Asia.

– Moomin is a globally renowned family-oriented brand. To date, there is not game company that solely focuses on developing Moomin-based mobile games. We saw a clear opening in the market says managing director Petri Elovaara.

– Moomin Characters is happy to get a partner, that is fully committed to mobile games that fit our brand and is willing to focus fully on it. We see great potential for growth in the mobile sector and we are ready to give Snowfall our full support! commented Moomin Characters’ managing director Roleff Kråkström.

Snowfall wants to connect gamers of all ages with their Moomin themed games and Mr Elovaara sums up the company’s philosophy by saying –  we appreciate domestic know-how and the values of the Moomin brand. We want to bring people together and continue the stories of the Moomins with our games.

The success of the Moomin mobile games exceeded all expectations

The company’s previous game, Jam Run Adventures, quickly found an active player base, and the company is now set on expanding their set of games. The people behind Snowfall are young hungry game developers as well as globally seasoned business developers. Mr. Elovaara wants to combine the softer values of the Moomins with the top technology of the gaming industry.
