Have you ever paid attention to the colours used on Moomin.com website? You see, the colours are from the picture books The book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My (1952) and Who will comfort Toffle? (1960). Quite nice idea to use “the official Moomin colours”, don’t you think?
At the Manuscript and Picture Unit at Åbo Akademi University Library in Turku, Finland there is a significant collection of Tove Jansson’s manuscripts etc. The script of The book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My includes also a colour map Tove Jansson made for the illustrations.
This colour map painted by Tove Jansson in 1950s matches quite well with the colours on the published book. And did you know that also the official Moomin font is based on the handwriting of Tove? These archive treasures are something we love!
