The beloved Moomin mugs from the 1990s, Green and Rose, will soon be available in a bigger size. The mugs will be sold in S Group’s stores in Finland starting May 20th, and in the Moomin Shops on September 1st.
Arabia’s four first Moomin mugs came for sale in 1990. Last autumn, Arabia published the news that two of these mugs, Blue and Yellow, will be published in a new, bigger size. Now the series is growing, as mugs Green and Rose will also be available in the size of 0.4 litres!
The mugs Green and Rose will be sold in S Group’s stores in Finland starting May 20th. The mugs will come for sale at the Moomin webshops at the beginning of September.

Arabia’s Moomin mugs Green and Rose came for sale originally in 1990. The illustrations of the mugs were based on Tove Jansson’s comics. Now, Arabia’s illustrator-ceramist Tove Slotte has rearranged the original design to fit the bigger mug size.
The illustrations on mug Green are based on the comic strip “Moomin Begins a New Life” (1956), whereas the mug Rose is based on the comic “Moomin Falls in Love” from the same year.
Tove Jansson started drawing comics already as a young girl. In the 1950s, the illustrations of Comet in Moominland raised interest in London. Charles Sutton from Associated Press asked Jansson to start drawing Moomin comics for adults, and the first comic strip was published in Evening News in 1954.
Tove and Lars Jansson’s popular Moomin comics were used in the illustrations of Arabia’s mugs for the first time in 1990.
Mugs available in the Moomin Shop in September
Moomin mugs Rose and Green 0.4l will be available in S Group’s stores and the Prisma online shop starting May 20th. The mugs will be internationally available in the Moomin webshops on September 1st.
