Over 800 euros donated to UNICEF

Finlayson, Arabia & Hackman and Moomin Characters together with Stockmann department store have donated 855 euros to UNICEF.

From November until January the Moomin shop-in-shop was open in the center of Helsinki at the Stockmann department store. The shop-in-shop was designed and carried out together with Moomin licensees Finlayson and Arabia & Hackman.

The fascinating Moomin area was built to Stockmann presenting Tove Jansson’s beloved stories together with the related Moomin products by Arabia, Hackman and Finlayson. The aim was to create a completely new experience for Moomin fans bringing the Moomin stories and products into a shopping environment where furnitures and colors have been designed inspired by the selected Moomin stories Who will comfort Toffle, Comet in Moominland and Moominland Midwinter.

Tove Jansson and UNICEF

During an extensive career, Tove Jansson also illustrated postcards for charity. In 1971 UNICEF’s Christmas card assortment included a card “Wonder of Christmas”, and ten years later “March for Peace”.

In autumn 2000, UNICEF asked Tove Jansson for her permission to also reprint the card March for Peace. Tove was delighted at the request and said that she was more than happy to give permission, that she still could do something good for the kids, although she was not able to paint anymore. Artist Tove Jansson died in the summer of 2001 and in the winter 2001, UNICEF launched the new edition of the lovely card with the peace theme.
